Dosan Seowon was established in 1574 to commemorate Korean Confucian scholar Yi Hwang (\uc774\ud669).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-09-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-16-17.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dosan Seowon is deep inside a valley, it takes around 10 minutes to walk from the main road, along the way there are many beautiful old pines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-16-42.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-13-26-45.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an old well outside the entrance Dosan Seowon, the water is sweet and refreshing, better bring a water bottle with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-18-49.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-18-37.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Yi Hwang had retired to the location in 1549 and begun construction on the facility, a private Korean Confucian academy offering instruction in the classics and honouring the sages with regular memorial rites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-09-22.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-25-26.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dosan Seowon complex consists of \u2018Dosan Seodang\u2019 (lecture hall), which Yi Hwang built and where he taught his students and where a tablet reading \"Dosan Seowon\", that was a gift from Korean King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-24-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/korea_2014\/2014-09-08-12-23-20.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Like other Korean Confucian academies, Dosan Seowon serves two purposes: education and commemoration.
