Chionji is dedicated to Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0643-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0633.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The main entrance of the temple is a relic, it enshrines Sakyamuni Buddha and 16 Arhats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0633-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0656-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The temple is extremely quiet in the early morning, only some locals who look like fishermen pray here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0647-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0653-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No Ema (\u7d75\u99ac) is found in the temple, but the worshippers write down their prayers on a little paper fans, so elegant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0651-6.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0649-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chionji is not so big, but it is time-honored, Emperor Heizei (\u5e73\u57ce\u5929\u7687; 806-809) had visited the temple Heian period (\u5e73\u5b89\u6642\u4ee3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0645-2.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/japan_2012a\/20121120-0655-3.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a stone structure named \u2018Ring of Wisdom\u2019 (\u667a\u6075\u306e\u8f2a) at the seaside.
