The mosque was commissioned by King Hassan II to be the most ambitious structure ever built in Morocco, and the construction cost was around 600 million USD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/morocco_2019\/20190412-16-06-09.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/morocco_2019\/20190412-16-12-36.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hassan II Mosque is the largest functioning mosque in Africa, a maximum of 105,000 worshippers can gather together for prayer: 25,000 inside the mosque hall and another 80,000 on the mosque's outside ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/morocco_2019\/20190412-16-58-07.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/morocco_2019\/20190412-16-14-00.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The minaret of the mosque is the world's second tallest minaret at 210 metres.
