The village was built in 1131 (Song Dynasty), the architecture and carvings dating back to the Ming (\u660e, 1368-1644) and Qing (\u6e05, 1644-1911) Dynasties are said to be among the best of their kind in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-144305.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-141516.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hongcun had long been the habitat of Wang (\u6c6a) families, Lexu Hall (\u6a02\u6558\u5802) was the ancestral hall of Wang families, which is the only building left from Ming Dynasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-135905.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-140159.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The wooden carvings of Lexu Hall are exquisite, and they are all genuine antiques, unlike the furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-140931.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-140402.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest residence in Hongcun open to visitors is Chenzhi Hall (\u627f\u5fd7\u5802), it was built in 1855.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-134101.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-133643.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The wooden carvings in Chenzhi Hall are more beautiful than those in Lexu Hall, which recap the famous scenes from Chinese opera or legends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-133817.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-133937.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanhu Academy (\u5357\u6e56\u66f8\u9662) is situated at the waterside of Nanhu, it was rebuilt and renovated from 6 small academies in 1814.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-143535.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-143140.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanhu Academy was a school for the children of Hongcun, but now it becomes a museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-143222.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/huangshan_2011\/1226-143339.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides these big complexes, Hongcun also has many old buildings which are worth seeing.
