The tunnel was converted into a cycleway when the new railway tunnel was constructed in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2019\/20190630-13-01-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2019\/20190630-13-03-40.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The north entrance of the tunnel is not far from the Fulong Station (\u798f\u9686\u8eca\u7ad9), above the entrance there is an inscription in Chinese, means \u2018Conquer the natural stronghold\u2019 (\u5236\u5929\u96aa), which was inscribed by a Japanese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2019\/20190630-13-03-35.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/taiwan_2019\/20190630-13-04-59.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>By the time the tunnel finished, it was the longest railway tunnel in Southeast Asia.
