It covers an area of 83 square kilometres and is at an altitude of 710 metres above sea level. The beauty of Lake Tekapo attracts many visitors around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-09-52-02.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-09-56-25.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Choumeizai is so lucky, the weather is excellent when he visits there, Lake Tekapo appears as a big shiny sapphire, contrast with the snow white mountains, so adorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-06-51.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-06-19.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Situated on the shores of Lake Tekapo is the Church of the Good Shepherd, it was built in 1935 as a memorial church to commemorate early settlers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-09-55-47.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-19-57.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Behind the altar there is a large window, which frames the view of both Lake Tekapo and the surrounding snow mountains, a popular place for taking wedding photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-18-09.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-19-32.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The structure of the Church of the Good Shepherd was made from concrete, with the stones as cladding. The church looks rough and strong, which makes it a perfect match with the peaceful and elegant Lake Tekapo: Beauty and the beast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-17-56.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Next to the church is a big rocky beach and no man-made structure around, an ideal place for taking good photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-04-23.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/newzealand_2019\/20190908-10-14-31.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The lake is fed at its northern end by the braided Godley River, which has its source in the Southern Alps to the north.
