At 74.5 metres high, it is the largest church in Iceland and one of the city's best-known landmarks, looks like a giant pipe organ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170818-20-55-38.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170818-20-58-46.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At the front is the statue of explorer Leif Erikson (c.970 \u2013 c.1020), he was the first known European to have set foot on continental North America (excluding Greenland), before Christopher Columbus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170818-21-45-18.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetravel.me\/images-webp\/iceland_2017\/20170818-20-58-05.webp\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many tourists inside the church, most of them are resting on the benches.
